I knew we didn't have much time before the rain came back, so I was determined to make it work. From the first click of my camera, I knew everything was going to be okay. And not just because I had found a spot with decent light, but because this couple was incredible to work with.

This is a family dear to my heart. If you've been following my blog or my work, you know that Briana and I were each other's photographers throughout our pregnancies with our baby girls, who were born just a few weeks apart. We did each other's gender reveal and maternity sessions, cheered each other on through our first year of motherhood, and then took each other's family portraits around our girls' first birthdays.
Briana's style tends to be pretty laid back, but still carefully put together. Her family session was similar to her maternity photos in style--a country chic theme. As a fellow portrait photographer, she understands the importance of details, which makes working with her family so enjoyable!
Little miss Emma was just coming up on her first steps. It was so much fun watching and documenting her practice with mom and dad!
I went to visit sweet Scarlett a few days after she came home from the hospital. When I walked in the door, she was snoozing away, grinning peacefully in her sleep. Mama woke her and nursed her, changed her diaper (which she was not a fan of!) and cuddled her.
In true lifestyle form, the session was incredibly laid back and sweet. I blended into the background while mom and dad soaked up those precious moments with their new princess.
We did a few "posed" photos in Scarlett's bassinet, then took her outside to do a bit of exploring. It was a warm August day and Scarlett loved the fresh air.
Finally, we wrapped up the session in Scarlett's nursery with mom and dad loving on their sweet girl. It was such a wonderful, relaxed session. Scarlett was an absolute doll to work with!
