I am so thrilled to share this maternity session for a few reasons: 1. It's my first session in the Savannah area (Hinesville, to be specific!) since we moved here almost a year ago. 2. It's my first session at all in 2 YEARS. 3. It turned out gorgeous.
When I decided to offer $70 mini sessions to the Savannah & Hinesville, GA area, I was really hoping I'd get a few maternity sessions. As far as everyday portraiture goes, maternity is definitely my passion and I've really missed photographing glowing mamas! When this sweet mama contacted me as my first Savannah area session, I was so thrilled and honored to hear from her. I have been counting down the weeks to this session!
I was super excited when she said she wanted to do a Tybee Island beach maternity session. I hadn't even given thought to the temperamental Georgia weather this time of year, but as our session got closer, it became pretty clear that Tybee might not work.
The whole week of this session was cloudy and stormy. Mama was feeling disheartened, but I promised her that we would get something beautiful, no matter when or where we ended up shooting her session. And I like to make good on my promises!
We chose a location that was close to them, but I'd never seen it before. We watched the weather closely the day of the session and finally decided on a small window of time where we might not have perfect light, but we would have somewhat clear skies and no rain. Fingers crossed, we set out to make these photos happen before baby boy arrives!
I have to admit--when I arrived at the location, I was pretty nervous! It was a small pond with just a few trees on one side of it. I wasn't sure where we would shoot, as the light was still too high for my typical natural lighting style, and there didn't appear to be much shade. I was probably visibly sweating when this sweet couple arrived!
I knew we didn't have much time before the rain came back, so I was determined to make it work. From the first click of my camera, I knew everything was going to be okay. And not just because I had found a spot with decent light, but because this couple was incredible to work with.
There is nothing like working with a couple who is so in sync with each other. These two required almost no direction (a lifestyle photographer's dream!) and we had so much fun shooting this session. Because they were so easygoing and fun, not only did we create the most gorgeous artwork, but we got so many great shots that I couldn't narrow their gallery down to just 10!
I hope you love these beautiful portraits as much as I do. I am so excited to be back in the lifestyle photography game and I can't wait to meet my new clients here in Georgia! If you are in the Hinesville, Savannah, or Fort Stewart, GA area and are in need of a maternity or lifestyle photographer, let's chat! I still have a few $70 mini session spots available for my first 10 clients here.
XOXO,
Emily
